About the Barnyard

Kane
The Barnyard Behavior model for training and behavioral evaluation adheres to the basic understanding that both an animal’s heredity and an animal’s environment play a crucial role in their behavior. We are dedicated to using a positive framework in all of our training and treatment protocols.
Barnyard Behavior is owned by Claire F. Cario. Claire has 8 years of experience working within small animal care, adoption and veterinary medicine. She has completed the coursework for her MA in Psychology and a Certification in the Advanced Psychology of Animal Behavior and Conservation, registered with the New York State Education Department. Her coursework focused on developing an understanding of people and other animals by applying psychological, ecological and evolutionary principles that relate to social behavior, cognitive processes, learning, experience and ontogeny, cultural activity, communication, and the interdependence of physiological and psychological processes.
Claire apprenticed with one of New York’s top Canine Behaviorists and was certified as a Canine Trainer and Behaviorist. She is also the Brooklyn and Queens trainer and coordinator for the Good Dog Foundation and soon will be training volunteers for the non-profit PUPP (Partners United for People and Pets).
